You Know My Name, But Not My Story...

My name is Adam Pitcher, I’m a 26 year old, Ashington born lad based in Newcastle and I am working on building a career in film editing and VFX composition. I was inspired from an early age to work in film after my imagination was captured by the likes of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Galaxy Quest. I would spend many hours watching DVD special features, fascinated by the efforts behind the scenes that go into making cinema such a magical experience.

 

Throughout my time on Northumbria University's Film and TV Production program, I have acquired experience across a range of production roles, first starting off as a screenwriter, producer and director before settling on editing and taking on some sound and cinematography roles along the way. I have had experience working on projects both inside and outside of university as a volunteer, having worked primarily on short drama films with experience in making short documentaries, trailers, promotional videos and stage plays. Across these projects, I have become proficient in the use of AVID Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro and have also had the chance to familiarise myself with DaVinci Resolve. In my own time, I have been using online tutorials and books to teach myself how to make VFX, building my confidence in the use of Adobe After Effects and now looking ahead at trying out the Nuke Composition software and 3D modelling in Blender.

I'm keen to continue developing as an editor across both unscripted and scripted projects, with a strong passion for character led, authentic storytelling that gives real people a platform to be seen and heard.
